A road in northwest Houston is being fingered as a particularly dangerous stretch—the scene of many Texas car accidents, some of them fatal. The most recent accident occurred just last week and resulted in three deaths. The scene of the fatal accident was North Eldridge Parkway. It happened when the road was wet. The family of one of the victims said the area is known for accidents.

According to the Houston Chronicle:

HPD spokesman John Cannon said police have investigated a number of accidents on that stretch of roadway that appeared to be caused by excessive speed. That doesn’t necessarily mean speed was a factor in Wednesday’s accident, he said, because investigators are still trying to determine how fast each of the three vehicles was going.

Nonetheless, Cannon said, caution is in order.

“If there’s one message to the motoring public who use that road every day or occasionally, it’s to slow down,” Cannon said. “Any time you’re approaching a curve, no matter if it’s on an open road or a freeway for that matter, especially when you have wet roads or inclement weather, slow down.”

While most of us take extra precautions when we know we are in a dangerous traffic pattern or on an accident-prone roadway, we are all at the mercy of other drivers.

It only takes one distracted driver on a Texas road or one car traveling over the speed limit to cause multiple injuries or fatalities.
