You may be the safest driver you know—careful to abide by all of the rules of the road in an effort to reduce your risk of getting a ticket or getting in an accident. Such may have been the case for two vehicles involved in a serious accident recently when a woman ran a red light.
According to KHOU.com, the accident happened on Bammel North Houston Road at the intersection of the North Sam Houston Parkway West service road. Two vehicles, a Silverado pickup truck and a Hyundai Genesis, took off from the intersection when their light turned green. A woman driving a Mitsubishi Mirage, coming from the eastbound lanes of the cross street, failed to stop at her red light, causing the accident.
The pickup truck hit the Mirage on the driver’s side, causing both vehicles to spin around. Then, another vehicle came upon the accident and was unable to stop in time before hitting the rear of the Mirage as it was spinning.
One person was killed and two people were seriously injured. The driver of the Mirage was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband, a passenger, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he was listed in serious but stable condition. The driver of the pickup truck, a 17-year-old man, suffered minor injuries.
